FOUNDING GENERAL MANAGER - SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT SERVICES

Position Overview

Uptime, LLC is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial Founding General Manager to build and lead a specialty equipment service company from the ground up. This individual will establish the company's customer base, revenue pipeline, service operations, workforce, vendor network, pricing structure, systems, and operating infrastructure.

The successful candidate is entrepreneurial, commercially minded, highly resourceful, and motivated by the opportunity to build a company rather than simply maintain an established operation. They take ownership, work with urgency, remain composed during escalations, communicate proactively, and follows issues through completion. They will have direct specialty equipment industry experience and established relationships with customers, technicians, vendors, subcontractors, manufacturers, and other industry professionals. This leader will use those relationships, together with strong operational and business-development capabilities, to accelerate regional and national growth.

Rich Global will support Uptime's development by providing access to capital, strategic leadership, accounting, human resources, legal, technology, administrative support, and other shared resources.

This is a hands-on company-building role . During Uptime's early stages, the Founding General Manager will work directly across sales, estimating, recruiting, dispatch, vendor development, service execution, and operational problem-solving. As the company grows, this leader will build and manage the sales, service, administrative, and operational teams required to support a scalable national platform.

Additional responsibilities associated with launching, developing, and expanding Uptime may apply as business needs evolve.

Primary Service Areas - QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST HAVE DIRECT EXPERIENCE WITH:

• Loading-dock equipment and dock levelers
• Compactors and balers
• Hydraulic lifts
• Commercial overhead doors
• Material-handling and related specialty equipment
• Preventive maintenance, repairs, emergency service, and equipment replacement

Key Responsibilities

Company Building, Strategy, and National Expansion

• Establish the company's operating structure, service capabilities, geographic strategy, performance standards, and short- and long-term growth priorities.
• Develop and execute a launch plan addressing customers, revenue opportunities, staffing, vendors, subcontractors, equipment, systems, pricing, and service delivery.
• Identify the markets, customer segments, service categories, and territories offering the strongest opportunities for profitable growth.
• Build a scalable service model that delivers consistent pricing, communication, documentation, response times, and quality to regional, national, and multi-site customers.
• Establish technician and subcontractor coverage in priority markets and manage the compliance, reporting, invoicing, portal, and service-level requirements associated with national accounts.
• Establish annual revenue, profitability, customer-acquisition, service-volume, and operational-performance goals and report results, challenges, and required decisions to leadership.

Sales, Customer Development, and Revenue Growth

• Leverage existing industry relationships to generate customers, service opportunities, and revenue.
• Reestablish prior industry relationships and prospect new commercial, industrial, national, and multi-site accounts.
• Participate directly in customer meetings, site visits, proposals, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and account-development activities.
• Build and manage a qualified sales pipeline and consistently advance opportunities toward award and execution.
• Develop emergency-repair, recurring-service, preventive-maintenance, equipment-replacement, and national-account opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to expand customer accounts, service categories, geographic coverage, and recurring revenue while ensuring new work can be executed profitably.
• Recruit and develop additional sales and business-development resources as company growth supports expansion.

Service Operations and Team Development

• Establish and oversee the complete service-delivery process, from customer intake and estimating through scheduling, dispatch, completion, documentation, invoicing, and closeout.
• Coordinate the inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of loading-dock equipment, compactors, balers, hydraulic lifts, overhead doors, material-handling equipment, and related systems.
• Manage open work orders, return visits, parts delays, warranty issues, emergency requests, customer concerns, and operational escalations with urgency and sound judgment.
• Establish standards for response time, workmanship, safety, documentation, customer communication, and regulatory and contractual compliance.
• Use industry knowledge and relationships to recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, and develop technicians, service coordinators, supervisors, and other operational employees.
• Establish clear performance expectations and promptly address productivity, quality, safety, communication, documentation, or compliance concerns.
• Build a culture of ownership, urgency, professionalism, accountability, customer service, and consistent follow-through while developing future managers and team leaders.

Vendor Networks, Systems, and Financial Performance

• Build and manage a dependable network of qualified vendors, subcontractors, manufacturers, parts suppliers, and technical resources across current and future service markets.
• Negotiate labor rates, parts pricing, response times, payment terms, service expectations, and other commercial arrangements.
• Manage vendor compliance, including licensing, certificates of insurance, onboarding documentation, safety requirements, and customer-specific qualifications.
• Establish profitable pricing models, estimating standards, approval requirements, margin expectations, purchasing controls, and job-costing procedures.
• Monitor revenue, cash flow, labor utilization, technician productivity, subcontractor expenses, material costs, service margins, callbacks, invoices, collections, and work-order completion.
• Design and continuously improve workflows, standard operating procedures, service checklists, escalation protocols, reporting practices, and internal controls.
• Utilize and optimize Facil-IT, QuickBooks, NetSuite, and other company systems while coordinating with Rich Global's shared resources and Budapest-based administrative support staff.
• Maintain accurate customer, vendor, operational, and financial records and identify bottlenecks, pricing gaps, missed billing opportunities, unnecessary costs, and automation opportunities.

Qualifications

• Significant specialty equipment service experience involving loading-dock equipment, dock levelers, compactors, balers, hydraulic lifts, commercial overhead doors, material-handling equipment, or closely related systems.
• Experience with recognized specialty equipment, loading-dock, commercial-door, material-handling, waste-equipment, or comparable field-service organization.
• Established relationships with industry customers, technicians, vendors, subcontractors, manufacturers, or other professionals who can support Uptime's launch and growth.
• Demonstrated ability to generate revenue, develop customer relationships, and convert industry contacts and service opportunities into profitable business.
• Strong experience managing field-service operations, technicians, subcontractors, scheduling, dispatch, parts, documentation, and customer expectations.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and developing field-service and operational teams.
• Demonstrated ability to establish pricing models, operational processes, vendor networks, performance standards, and accountability measures.
• Experience supporting national or multi-site commercial and industrial customers is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of service profitability, estimating, job costing, labor utilization, subcontractor management, invoicing, collections, and operational performance.
• Strong leadership, organization, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, technological, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to manage multiple customer needs, business-development opportunities, and operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations, service territories, and industry meetings as business needs require.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary: $100,000+, commensurate with experience
