Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician to provide locum tenens coverage in Loxahatchee, Florida. Due to higher-than-anticipated patient volumes, the emergency department is seeking additional physician coverage for ongoing PM shifts in a collaborative, well-supported clinical environment.

Position Details

Shift Length: Primarily 10-hour shifts

Coverage Needed: PM Shifts

Patient Population: Adult patients only (dedicated pediatric emergency department)

Emergency Department Bays: 33

Patient Volume: Approximately 1.8–2.0 patients per hour

Admission Rate: 26–30%

Trauma Designation: Non-Trauma Center

Clinical Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide variety of emergent and urgent medical conditions.

Perform emergency procedures as clinically indicated.

Stabilize patients requiring admission or transfer to higher levels of care.

Collaborate with emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and ancillary personnel to deliver high-quality patient care.

Complete accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic medical record.

Maintain compliance with departmental protocols and quality standards.

Staffing Model

3–4 Emergency Medicine Physicians per shift

3 Advanced Practice Providers

Full emergency department nursing and ancillary support staff

Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM)

Minimum of 6 months of Emergency Medicine experience

Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain licensure

Current DEA registration

Excellent clinical decision-making and procedural skills
