Job DetailsJob Location: 515 S MINNESOTA AVE. - SIOUX FALLS, SD 57104Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: AccountingJob Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions that require the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The role requires a high level of analytical ability, professional judgment, and technical accounting knowledge. Duties/Responsibilities Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP Maintain and oversee the integrity of the general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide recommendations to management Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Support external audits and regulatory examinations by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and reporting requirements Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis Provide guidance and oversight to junior accounting staff, as applicable Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational objectives and financial decision-making Assist with special projects, system implementations, and process improvements Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience Public accounting or financial institution experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and exercise independent judgment High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel Physical Demands and Work Environment Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
