Overview
Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit) travel assignment in a short-term acute care setting located in Great Falls, Montana, United States. Start date: 07/27/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,933-$1,988 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Days. The unit provides care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable medical/surgical patients who do not require ICU transfer, with a focus on comprehensive patient-centered care and discharge planning.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, skilled nursing care for medically stable and select unstable patients on the PCU, including post-op surgical patients requiring heightened monitoring.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor cardiovascular status, and recognize early signs of potential deterioration; respond per policy and escalate as needed.
- Support patients undergoing post-heart catheterization, post-surgical revascularization, pacemaker placement, and other procedures not requiring titratable drips; manage central lines, chest tubes, NGTs, and multiple IVs.
- Operate advanced medical equipment, including A-lines and invasive monitoring, chest tubes, noninvasive and invasive ventilatory support (CPAP/BiPAP), and basic cardiac telemetry with EKG interpretation.
- Administer and manage medications within scope (e.g., anticoagulants, antiarrhythmics, diuretics, vasopressors as not titrated), and coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure safe pharmacologic practice.
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and multidisciplinary teams; assist with discharge planning and patient education; provide mentorship and precept new staff on the unit as needed.
- Support unit staffing needs and contribute to a positive, patient-centered care environment during the shift.

Requirements
- Current Montana RN licensure
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
- EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic office equipment, multiple IV pumps, and advanced medical equipment; ability to interpret telemetry and EKG
- Experience or strong interest in post-catheterization and post-surgical care; pediatric experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced inpatient setting and collaborate across disciplines to achieve patient outcomes
