Job Title: Clienttion Therapist

Hours per Shift: 40
Experience: At least one year relevant radiation therapy experience required. Experience may include internships as part of the clinical education program.
License: South Carolina Clienttion Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Clienttion Therapist
Certifications: ARRT Clienttion Therapy (T) certification, BLS through the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Knowledge of radiation therapy theories, practices, and procedures to provide quality care and treatment.
Description:
Under the direction of a Clienttion Oncologist, performs radiation therapy procedures, including assisting in examinations and operation of therapeutic equipment.
Delivers prescribed doses of external beam and radioactive elements.
Duties occur in all areas of the radiation oncology department, including simulator, dark room, treatment, and exam rooms.
May be required to go to the operating room or nursing unit to perform radioactive implants.
Frequent standing and walking are required.
Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing or pulling, up to 50 lbs. is necessary.
Frequent use of finger and hand dexterity is essential.
Constant reaching with hands and arms is expected.
Frequent talking or hearing is required.
Corrected hearing and vision to normal range are necessary.
Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue is possible.
Potential exposure to infectious materials, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment may occur.
Frequent exposure to the risk of radiation is part of the job.
Intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals may happen.
Intermittent exposure to the risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens is also possible.
Quiet to moderate noise levels in the work area are common.
Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.
May be required to work weekends or holidays based on departmental needs.
Delivers accurately prescribed course of radiation therapy.
Performs patient setup accurately and carefully delivers the correct dose per radiation oncologist orders.
Performs clinical simulations on treatment machines and on CT Simulators per radiation oncologist orders.
Fabricates custom blocks or other patient immobilization devices.
Accurately cuts molds, fabricates both electron and photon molds, and creates both mounted and unmounted blocks.
Maintains electronic medical records of daily treatments, including accurate dose totals of treatments and records when treatment aids are used.
Uses electronic medical records for scheduling, notes, photos, etc.
Explains radiation therapy procedures appropriately and adequately to patients.
Answers questions fully and ensures treatments are as comfortable as possible.
Notifies the physician and/or nurse of any treatment complications.
Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.
Frequent interaction with oncology patients and their families is expected.
Daily interaction with Clienttion Oncologists, Clienttion Therapists, Physicists, and other departmental employees is necessary.
May occasionally interact with outside vendors and the general public.
Knowledge of radiation safety is essential to ensure appropriate exposure to patients, staff, and the public.
Proficient in dose calculations and equipment operations is required.
Ability to prepare and maintain exact patient records is expected.
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance is crucial.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations is necessary.
Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures is important.
Strong communication skills are required.
Capability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions is crucial.
Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
A professional and neat appearance is required.
Strict confidentiality regarding work-related information must be maintained.
