Success in this role means understanding customer needs, building trust, developing effective sales strategies, and closing enough business to meet sales plan objectives while maintaining strong long-term customer relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesPromote and sell service agreements for commercial building systems.Establish contact with prospects, qualify potential buyers, and schedule sales calls.Follow up on leads and use outlined marketing strategies to develop new opportunities.Determine customer needs and create sales strategies that align with those objectives.Close sufficient sales to meet sales plan objectives.Maintain an active proposal backlog that supports the sales plan.Conduct building surveys to support estimate development.Maintain accurate records of all sales-related activity, reports, expenses, competitive activity, and correspondence.Develop positive, ongoing customer relationships that support long-term loyalty.Partner with the service department to generate leads for service or equipment and device upgrades.How You Will Do ItOwn your pipeline with accountability, safety, and integrity by keeping commitments, following through on customer needs, and representing Johnson Controls professionally in every interaction.Stay close to the work and focus on what matters by listening carefully, asking the right questions, and translating customer challenges into clear service solutions.Use a disciplined, repeatable sales process to qualify prospects, schedule follow-up activity, prepare proposals, and move opportunities forward consistently.Improve every day through candor and problem-solving by tracking results, reviewing competitive activity, and refining your approach based on what you learn in the field.Win as one team by working closely with service colleagues, drawing on diverse perspectives, and building trust across customer and internal stakeholder relationships.What We Look ForMinimum two years of successful sales experience in a quota-setting environment.Experience selling services, intangibles, or solution-based offerings.Exposure to sales methodologies, standards, and disciplines.Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings.Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.Ability to persuade, influence, and close sales effectively.High energy, self-motivation, and a strong drive to succeed.High degree of self-discipline and attention to detail.Personable, outgoing, reliable, and professional demeanor.Strong customer focus and the ability to build positive relationships.Technical aptitude and the ability to learn commercial building systems.Nice To HaveBachelor's degree in marketing, business, or engineering.Two to three previous progressive sales roles.Knowledge of the fire and life safety industry.Knowledge and experience in Salesforce.com.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.HIRING SALARY RANGE: $46,400-69,800 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role also offers a competitive Sales Incentive Plan that will take into account volume and margin on a project, quarterly, and annual basis. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
