Cardiovascular Technician

Location: New York, NY 10025
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day | 9:00 AM–9:00 PM
Schedule: 3 Days/Week | 36 Hours/Week
Local Candidates: Accepted
Traveler Candidates: Accepted
Weekend Requirement: Not Required

Pay Rate:
Local: $67–$72/hr
Traveler: $67–$72/hr

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED — Required

• RCIS certification — Preferred

• Experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

• Strong understanding of cardiovascular and cardiac catheterization procedures

• Ability to monitor and interpret intracardiac pressures

• Ability to operate and calibrate cardiac catheterization laboratory equipment

• Experience with cardiac cath lab technologies and procedures

• IABP experience — Preferred

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong English communication skills — reading, writing, and speaking

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Cardiac Cath Lab environment

Responsibilities:

• Monitor patient blood pressure and communicate significant changes to the physician

• Monitor catheter positioning by interpreting intracardiac pressures

• Record pressures from cardiac chambers as requested

• Maintain complete electronic records of procedural events

• Calibrate and operate A-Vox, cardiac output, ACT, and other cath lab equipment

• Communicate test and monitoring results to physicians and cardiovascular technologists

• Prepare catheters, wires, balloons, stents, and other procedural supplies

• Analyze and process procedural data and maintain appropriate documentation

• Set up, calibrate, and monitor intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)

• Establish and adjust IABP timing in collaboration with the physician

• Monitor IABP patients throughout procedures and assist with transfer to the appropriate care unit

• Assist during emergencies, including defibrillation, external pacing, resuscitation, and suctioning

• Maintain adequate supplies and perform preventative equipment maintenance

• Report equipment malfunctions and supply shortages to the supervisor

• Learn and apply new cardiac cath lab technologies and procedures

• Operate power injectors for contrast dye administration

• Assist with cardiac catheterization procedures using sterile technique

• Prepare procedure rooms and enter required patient information into the system

• Assist nursing staff with patient transportation between departments

• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient Cardiac Cath Lab environment
