Position: PCU/Step Down Float RN

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Step Down department. Ideal candidates should have charge experience and cardiac step down experience, though it is not mandatory.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Previous Charge Experience: Required
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years
• Patient Ratio Experience: 4-6 patients per nurse
• Charting System Experience: Required, specifically with Epic
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Skills Required

• Cardiac Telemetry
• Interpretation of Dysrhythmias
• Management of Dysrhythmias
• Isolation Precautions/PPE
• Nasal Cannula and Telemetry Management

Unit Details

Staffing ratios will vary based on unit acuity, typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6. The position may require floating between various units and specialties based on the hospital's needs.

Responsibilities include managing staffing needs, overseeing bed flow, and general coordination of patient care as a Charge Nurse when needed.

Work Environment

• Patient Population: Primarily adults and geriatrics, including ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients.
• Interdisciplinary Support: Access to IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.

Additional Information

Orientation hours are estimated at 24 hours. Applicants should be prepared for potential floating to neighboring facilities. Previous experience in the U.S. healthcare system is required; Canadian experience alone does not qualify.
