Description
This position is responsible for assisting in the development, administration, and supervision of the athletic training program designated by the associate athletic director for sports medicine. This position also assists in coordinating and executing all primary and secondary insurance claims concerning student athlete injury and treatment. Final title (Assistant Trainer, Assistant Head Trainer, Associate Head Trainer), salary grade, and salary will be determined by the selected candidate's education and experience. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

The University provide a $6.00 per month credit to eligible employees to offset the cost(s) for supplemental, voluntary benefits. All full-time regular employees are eligible for this benefit on the first day of the month following the completion of 90 days of employment.
UNA provides remission of tuition to eligible employees and to their spouses and qualified dependent children. Paid Time Off
- Annual leave is accrued for each hour worked. During the first 2 years of employment, the accrual is 10 workdays. After completion of 2 years of continuous service, eligible employees are entitled to 12 days of annual leave and, for each additional year of service, annual leave is increased by one day per year to a maximum of 20 days after 10 years.
- Full-time regular staff members are entitled to 96 work hours (12 workdays) of sick leave each year at the employee's regular rate of pay regardless of length of service.

Essential Job Duties
- Observe and evaluate the health status of student athletes during practices and competitions;
- Make referrals to team physicians;
- Provide direct supervision over the assigned program(s);
- Provide direct supervision overall baseball practices/workouts;
- Travel with baseball team to and from all competitions;
- Provide oversight for the health and wellness of the assigned program(s);
- Assist in maintaining health records of all student athletes using the athletic training room;
- Assist in the supervision of graduate assistants and student employees;
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures;
- Assist in the administration of drug-screening programs for all student athletes;
- Assist in the administration of insurance coverage for all student athletes, both domestic and international;
- Assist the department head, coworkers, and team physicians in pre-participation physical examinations;
- Assist in determining and maintaining proper coverage for all sports;
- Work with the team physicians in determining an athlete's status of return to play to their respective sport;
- Assist in coordinating with health services regarding the health status of the student athletes;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in health/physical education or athletic training is required;
- Master's degree is preferred;
- Collegiate-level athletic training experience is strongly preferred.
- National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Certified, required;
- Eligible for licensure in the state of Alabama, required;
- Current and ongoing CPR certification is required.
