Hospice Social Worker (Masters)

Social Worker

The social worker is responsible for the implementation of standards of care for medical social work services and for adherence to all policies and procedures as outlined by the hospice.

Required qualifications:

• A graduate of a Master's program in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education preferred. Current MSW licensure for the state.
• Minimum of one year's experience in health care, with hospice experience preferred. Understands hospice philosophy, and issues of death/dying.
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
• Demonstrates strong public relations skills.
• Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, and flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order. Must be able to travel throughout the service area.
• Is able to meet the physical demands of the job including bending, carrying, stooping, walking, and lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Must be flexible to assist the hospice program in providing 24 hours, 7 days per week care. Some evening, night, weekend, and holiday work will be necessary.
• Demonstrates ability to effectively learn and use computer and required software programs to ensure a true and correct electronic medical record for each patient.
• Must be able to utilize technology appropriately as needed to meet the requirements of the position
