Remote US Expat Tax Accountant

We are seeking a skilled US Expat Tax Accountant based in Moreland Hills, OH to join our fully remote team. This full-time role requires 3+ years of experience in public accounting or expatriate tax compliance. The successful candidate will provide precise, compliant international tax services for clients connected to Moreland Hills and across the U.S. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely while supporting operations linked to Moreland Hills, OH , focusing on U.S. citizens and green card holders living abroad. Candidates must possess strong technical expertise in international tax reporting and be ready for a dedicated full-time commitment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file U.S. individual tax returns for expatriates, handling complex international reporting requirements.
• Accurately complete Forms 1116, 2555, 8621, 5471, 3520, and 3520-A for clients.
• Analyze foreign income statements, investment portfolios, and ownership structures to ensure correct tax treatment.
• Advise clients on foreign earned income exclusion, foreign tax credits, and other expatriate tax strategies.
• Deliver tailored tax planning and consulting services to U.S. citizens living abroad.
• Communicate complex U.S. tax regulations clearly and effectively to clients.
• Stay informed on IRS updates impacting expatriate taxpayers.
• Manage multiple client engagements while maintaining accuracy and high-quality standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in U.S. expatriate tax preparation.
• Proficiency with international tax reporting forms (1116, 2555, 8621, 5471, 3520, 3520-A).
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. tax laws for citizens and green card holders living abroad.
• CPA or EA designation preferred.
• Strong ability to work independently in a remote environment.
