Physician, General Pediatrician with Genetic Focus

Job Overview

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek a General Pediatrician to support the Genetics service (ranks: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV and may be assigned periodic outreach clinics in Charleston, Huntington, Martinsburg, Princeton, Summersville, and/or Vienna.

Duties

• Practice in genetics for pediatric patients in a rapidly growing academic teaching clinic with guidance and supervision of a board‑certified geneticist.
• Provide excellent patient care through inpatient consults, telemedicine, and clinic visits.
• Actively involve medical students and residents in teaching.
• Assist in the administration of an annual grant for the state newborn screening laboratory.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and eligibility for a West Virginia state medical license.
• Completed a pediatric residency program.
• Board certified or eligible in pediatrics (all qualifications must be met by the time of appointment).
• Previous experience in genetics is not required but is encouraged for mid‑career pediatricians interested in precision medicine.
• In‑practice training will be provided by a geneticist and genetic counselors.
• Opportunity to pursue official certification in clinical genetics with stipend support during a two‑year fellowship, contingent on commitment to return to WVU.
