Responsibilities

• Safely operate manual transmission trucks across local routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or roll-off containers
• Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment like forklifts or manual handling techniques, ensuring secure and damage-free transport
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to verify safety standards and identify maintenance needs
• Route drive efficiently while adhering to traffic laws, company policies, and safety protocols
• Manage documentation related to deliveries, pickups, load manifests, and delivery receipts accurately
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery issues promptly
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle and ensure compliance with all safety regulations

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating manual transmission trucks in a commercial driving environment
• Knowledge of various freight types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle type(s) operated
• Strong driving skills with a focus on safety and adherence to traffic laws
• Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or manual methods when necessary
• Experience with route driving in a local setting with excellent navigation skills
• Physical ability to handle cargo loads and perform vehicle inspections as required
