Compensation Range: $45-50/hour Location: Pontiac, MI; Onsite – School Setting Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) supports student communication development under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist by delivering speech services dictated by IEPs. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of speech and language therapy plans for students from kindergarten through 12th grade
- Conduct speech and language exercises and activities as directed
- Provide speech and language therapy to students in both individual and group settings
- Monitor and document student progress and communicate findings to the supervising clinician
- Support classroom teachers and staff by reinforcing therapy goals in educational settings
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards in therapy delivery
- This opportunity provides an engaging role within a dynamic K-12 educational setting, working directly to enhance student communication skills while collaborating closely with school staff and licensed clinicians
- Shift details: School Day Schedule
- Hours per week: 35-37.5 hours per week
- Contract length: School Year
- Regular sitting, speaking, hearing, and use of hands.
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds .
Education
- Completed Associate’s degree or higher
- Minimum 1+ years of speech therapy assistant experience required
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively use technology as a tool for planning and implementing instructional strategies.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively under time constraints.
- Must be organized with the ability to multitask.
- Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Must have excellent memory and ability to function well under stress.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and/or assistance.
- Must demonstrate an extremely high regard for confidential and sensitive information.
- Must demonstrate flexibility, common sense, and good judgment.
- Must have the ability to keep abreast of information pertinent to the job.
