Data Center Technician

Role Overview Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location, maintain overall availability and reliability of data center operations, and potentially participate in a primary responder rotation. Responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure, coordinating responses to operational incidents, partnering with other teams to resolve issues, installing equipment, repairing hardware and network components, and providing after‑hours support as needed. Key Responsibilities Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed. Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues. Help train and onboard new team members. Physical Requirements Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds. Work in a 24/7 environment and participate in primary responder rotation and after‑hours support. Operate in cramped, elevated, and noisy environments. Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk up to 8+ hours a day. Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation. Qualifications 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience. 1+ years of computer networking experience. High school or equivalent diploma. Preferred Qualifications Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure. Work Schedule and Travel Shift work including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required. The role involves traveling within and sometimes outside the regional work area; a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license are necessary as company transportation will not be provided.
