Aquatics Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure a positive image of the club and aquatics department through responsive communication with members and employees and knowledge of club programs, services, and facilities. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, recruit, interview, hire, and train Aquatics Department personnel. Supervise, train, and provide ongoing performance evaluations of lifeguards and swim instructors. Assist in maintaining staff schedules, including availability and time‑off, to ensure appropriate staffing levels as defined in the annual business plans. Ability to teach First Aid and Red Cross Lifeguard Certification courses as needed. Assist Aquatics Director in planning, offering, and registering members for all BC Aquatics programs, private swimming lessons, lifeguard classes, camps and other activities. Assist the Aquatics Director in programming and upholding program expectations surrounding the learn‑to‑swim program. Have knowledge and the ability to use all registration systems including, but not limited to, Northstar, Eventbright and Red Cross. Assist Aquatics Director with payroll by reviewing time clock punches, entering commissions, and ensuring accuracy. Assist in coverage or coordinating coverage as needed to ensure all aquatics operations are covered based on the business needs. Ensures accurate billing for aquatics events, lessons, and classes. Assist Aquatics Director in monitoring inventory of supplies for aquatics programs and lifeguard staff. Assist with various tasks as assigned by the Aquatics Director, Associate Athletic Director, Assistant General Manager, or General Manager. Assumes additional administrative tasks in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Serves as a key point of contact for members and employees regarding program information and schedules. Monitors and responds to member inquiries made via e‑mail, web communication, or phone. Assist the Aquatics Director with updating marketing materials to ensure the most current program information is available to internal and external customers. Handles customer complaints and works with the customer to successfully resolve the situation; involves the aquatics director as needed. Communicates any schedule changes, planned or unplanned, to the members and guests and appropriate internal departments. Communicates member and guest feedback to the Aquatics Director; communicates with the Associate Athletic Director as needed. Serves as a backup contact for our first aid supply supplier and assists in restocking first aid kits and Go‑Bags within the club. Checks AED pads and batteries to ensure validity. Ensures emergency preparedness of aquatics staff by assisting training for lifeguard staff through scheduled and unscheduled training. Assist the Aquatics Director in conjunction with the Recreation Department to plan pool birthday parties as well as scheduling staff accordingly. Assist in scheduling and staffing the water runner and inflatable obstacle course weekly.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct supervision for all aquatics staff in coordination with, and in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Provides corrective action for aquatics staff when needed in accordance with club policies and procedures. Completes payroll and supervise aquatics staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Provides initial and ongoing training for staff relating to standard operating procedures, club navigation, cleaning duties, emergency preparedness, and customer service.QUALIFICATIONS

A.) or equivalent is preferred from a four‑year college or technical school; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of management experience preferred including supervision of at least 20 people as well as administrative duties such as performance reviews, payroll processing, and financial planning for departmental profitability.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, percentages, volumes and areas.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS

Develops policies and procedures for the pool. Makes hiring and discipline decisions regarding the Aquatics staff.EQUIPMENT USED OR OPERATED
Personal computer and computer software, telephone, water testing kit, ADA units and water flotation devices. Pool/filtration system. Pool/spa chemical system.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Required: LGT (Lifeguard Training), CPRfPR (CPR for the Professional Rescuer), Current Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification. Preferred: LGTI (Lifeguard Training Instructor), WSI (Water Safety Instructor), Pool operator’s certification.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
