Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer

Location: BROADWAY, NY (Onsite)

We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and peripherals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze software and hardware problems.
  • Experience providing desktop and PC technical support.
  • Knowledge of Unix administration and Unix shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of enterprise software systems and technical environments.
  • Ability to install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Windows Server.
  • Knowledge of Apple operating systems.
  • Ability to provide technical support in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical support team.
  • Ability to lift, move, install, and relocate computer equipment and peripherals.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency with computer hardware, Symbol handheld devices, printers, digital senders, and other peripherals .
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows XP/7/10/11 and Windows Server environments.
  • Knowledge of mobile and desktop operating systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Suite .
  • Knowledge of email systems and network printing.
  • Proficiency with Apple Operating Systems .
  • Experience with ServiceNow .
  • Experience supporting Oracle client-based applications .
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory .
  • Experience with Cisco networking devices .
  • Experience with Ethernet cabling .
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP and multicast .
  • Experience with Visio, CAD, and technical drawings is desired.
  • Knowledge of Unix, Linux, and Solaris environments is desired.
  • Experience supporting systems in a Rail Control Center (RCC) environment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 technical support at the Rail Control Center, Power Control Center, and Backup Rail Control Center.
  • Install, configure, update, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
  • Deploy computer equipment, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
  • Provide Microsoft Windows and Apple OS technical support.
  • Troubleshoot desktop, hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues.
  • Provide computer-related services and technical assistance to MTA users.
  • Perform system administration and desktop engineering tasks.
  • Analyze and resolve software and hardware problems.
  • Perform technical reviews and evaluations of hardware and software.
  • Support enterprise software systems and client-based applications.
  • Assist with Active Directory and network-related support activities.
  • Troubleshoot printers, digital senders, handheld devices, and other peripherals.
  • Support network printing and Ethernet-connected equipment.
  • Coordinate technical and project requirements with internal departments.
  • Document technical issues, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions.
  • Assist with the deployment, relocation, and replacement of computer equipment.
  • Provide support across various MTA facilities as assigned.
  • Perform other technical and operational duties as required.
