Over the past five years, we’ve expanded our structural engineering team and client base across the U.S. We are now seeking a Civil and Structural Engineer I to join our team in Houston.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $90,000, depending on experience

ENGINEERING POSITION: CIVIL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

 
Stiver Engineering prepares design plans for our clients that include structural steel plans and reinforced concrete plans. These plans are used to construct government/public, commercial, industrial, and other technical facilities. Stiver Engineering is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer that can implement the following key functions and has the minimum experience listed below:

 
Key Functions: 

• Focused on the design of structures which includes calculating the loads and stresses in materials and structures.
• Prepares engineering design and documents and confirming specifications.
• Designs projects by studying project concept, drawings, and models.
• Produces engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules.
• Ability to apply principles of mechanics, mathematics, and physics to produce design calculations and oversee the production of drawings.
• Provide critical inputs to the CAD technicians for rendering project drawings.
• Analyzing survey, mapping, and materials-testing data with computer modeling software.
• Technical adequacy of work is reviewed on completion.
• Interacts with Customers regarding ongoing project requirements.

 
Experience:
5+ years of experience in the functional area.

• Experience analyzing survey, mapping, and materials-testing data with computer modeling.
• Ability to create structural steel and reinforced concrete plans (plan views and sections).
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis Software (RISA), AutoCAD, Word and Excel.
• Requires independent thinking, ability to work independently or within groups.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The candidate must be detail oriented, motivated and must think proactively.
• Fluency in English is required.
• The candidate must possess ability to prioritize projects as well as multitask.

Education:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• The education and practical experience sufficient to perform the duties listed above.
