SY26-27 Substitute Teacher Location: Canton, Georgia – District Wide Job ID: 5650450 Posted: Apr 15, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Application Deadline: Posted until filled Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Position Title: Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional Pay Grade: Per-Day Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional Salary Pay Type: Hourly Non-Exempt Reports To: Principal Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate. Preferred Qualifications: Valid Georgia Teaching Certification Out-of-State Teaching Certification Equivalent of at least two years of eligible post‑secondary college credit (grade C or above, evaluated from an official transcript from an accredited institution) Goal: To enable students to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of their regular Teacher/Paraprofessional. Duties and Responsibilities Report to the school secretary upon arrival at the school Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and the classroom to which they are assigned Teach the lesson outlined and planned by the absent teacher Consult with appropriate administrator(s) before changing any teaching or other procedures Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in the classroom Report in writing any pertinent information on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures Follow Federal and State laws, as well as Board policies Perform other duties as may be assigned Compensation Substitute Teacher: $18.75/hr, $150.00/day for 8 hour day Substitute Paraprofessional: $13.33/hr, $99.98/day for 7.5 hour day This position is a temporary assignment; payment based on hours worked, and as work is available, with no eligibility or seniority for employee benefits; except for participation in a CCSD retirement savings account. All employees are eligible to participate in a 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings account.
