The Senior Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for evaluating residential mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. This role involves detailed risk assessment and credit analysis to support sound lending decisions. Reporting to the Mortgage Manager, the Senior Underwriter operates as an individual contributor, collaborating with team members to maintain high underwriting standards with limited travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residential mortgage loan applications for creditworthiness and risk
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and credit analysis
• Review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
• Make informed underwriting decisions
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders for efficient loan processing
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting preferred
• Proficiency with DE/SARS/LLAP
• Strong skills in risk assessment, financial analysis, and credit evaluation.
• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance
• Exceptional attention to detail and decision-making abilities
• Effective communication and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field preferred but not required for experienced candidates
