Welder - 1st Shift Durham, NC Description About the Company : CORMETECH, Inc. was founded in 1989 and provides environmental engineering solutions and services to the North American market. The company is dedicated to clean air technologies and manages a global portfolio of emissions control systems. CORMETECH has manufacturing facilities in Charlotte, Cleveland, Durham, and Kings Mountain, NC. Responsibilities Weld steel modules using MIG equipment and techniques, performing both structural and non‑structural welds. Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment in accordance with safety and maintenance programs. Assist with additional tasks such as cutting, laying, and butt‑up welding projects. Operate tools and equipment, including hand tools, welding machines, welding gas, semi‑automated machinery, measuring devices, and computers. Work required shifts, including day, evening, or weekend assignments as needed. Requirements Welding certification for overhead and vertical welding or equivalent experience; must pass a certification test within 90 days of assignment. Ability to use hand tools, welding equipment, welding gas, semi‑automated machinery, measuring tools, and basic computer functions. Good mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols. Basic math and written communication skills; proficiency in fractions and percentages preferred. Strong oral communication skills and ability to keep others informed. Problem‑solving skills and ability to make sound judgments. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Physical capability to lift, push, pull, and carry 35–50 pounds frequently and occasionally. High school diploma or GED required; post‑secondary education preferred. Must be able to work independently and cooperatively in a team‑oriented environment. Must pass all pre‑hiring assessments. Forklift operation experience is preferred.
