Location: Delaware Stadium, Bob Carpenter Center, and surrounding fields About the department / center: “The Event Staff within the University of Delaware Athletics Department is a committed group of individuals who work together to provide our guests with the best fan experience possible while they attend events within our arenas. Pride, integrity, and excellence are the pillars that our department is built upon and these qualities are displayed prominently in all of our guest interactions and how our department functions as a whole.” Role Description: The Athletics Event Staff is seeking, responsible, motivated undergraduate students to assist with a multitude of opportunities within our department. Please see below for position breakdowns. Usher : responsible for monitoring their section/s within our stadiums and assisting with seating/guest questions Ticket Taker : responsible for taking/scanning tickets at the gates Ball Person : responsible for placing game balls around the field, giving balls back to the players, and chasing balls when needed. This is a very active position. (soccer, volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse) BCC Floor Team : responsible for building and removing the flooring at the Bob Carpenter Center Floor Sweeper : Assist with sweeping the court during basketball games during time outs, between halves/quarters or when an athlete falls to keep the playing surface dry and safe. Guest Services : Assist at our guest services booths during football season to provide our guests with the best experience possible while answering basic stadium questions (restroom locations, concessions, giveaways, etc.) Shuttle Driver : Assist our guests with mobility needs to our stadiums via golf cart. This position will be responsible for picking up and dropping off guests from their vehicles to the stadium and back. Hiring Timeline: This is an ongoing, or evergreen, position that requires continuous hiring throughout the year to backfill vacancies or bring on additional support as needed. Applicants who are not enrolled as undergraduate students at the University will not be considered for this position. Employment Limitations and Exceptions Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Delaware and be in good academic standing. To be considered for additional on-campus employment, applicants combined on-campus employment, including teaching, research and graduate assistantship, must not exceed 29.5 hours per week. Graduate students on contract may hold additional employment, on campus or off, up to 29.5 hours per week total without approval by the student’s program, the student advisor or the Graduate College. However, graduate students on contract are encouraged to discuss additional employment with their advisors to avoid any situations that might hinder timely progress toward the degree.
