Radiologic Technologist

Performs radiographic procedures at a technical level, providing radiation protection in accordance with prescribed standards set forth by the Indiana Department of Public Health. Performs a wide variety of technical procedures consistent with established policies and guidelines, using independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Assumes responsibility for the general care and safety of all patients while in the Radiology Department.

Job duties include demonstrating the organization's mission and core values, adhering to laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information, administering radiation in the production of high quality radiographic images, exhibiting mastery of all functions of radiographic equipment, producing images of the highest technical quality while adhering to the principle of ALARA in regards to radiation dose, exhibiting ingenuity in the imaging of pediatric, geriatric, trauma, and the atypical patient, assisting radiologist during fluoroscopy and other patient examinations, positioning and transferring patients, providing a safe environment, and using positioning devices as necessary, assisting with the administration of oral, rectal and IV contrast media, thoroughly explaining all procedures to patient prior to study, managing patient/exam information through existing electronic systems, adhering to universal precautions at all times, performing all functions necessary for the interpretation of radiographic images either through soft copy or hard copy read, maintaining a professional and ethical relationship with all co-workers and hospital personnel, adhering strictly to HIPPA, responsible for cleaning radiology equipment, including portables, and maintaining a clean/stocked radiology room, attending meetings and training sessions as required, performing all duties/exams relative to diagnostic radiology, and performing other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

Education: Must be a graduate of a formal program in Radiologic Technology in an AMA approved school. Licensure: Current licensure with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) with current licensure. Current Indiana State Department of Health X-ray Operator Certificate. Current BLS Certification.
