About Rundoo ℹ️Our mission is to empower independent supply stores with best-in-class technology. Think of your local hardware store or mom-and-pop nursery—these are our clients. From paint to lumber to flooring, over 200,000 such stores across the country sell over $1T of building materials annually using outdated, on-premises systems. We’re aiming to help them modernize so that they can continue to thrive.Backed by leading investors including Battery, Bessemer and CRV, we've raised $48M across four rounds and are growing quickly: We're live in over 500 stores across the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean, and integrated with over 20 industry partners. Our team is made up of builders, sellers, and industry veterans with a shared goal: to bring modern technology to an overlooked industry.About the role You’ll be based out of our Redwood City office and work in person with the rest of our engineering team. Your work goes directly to the supply-store owners and staff who run their businesses on Rundoo every day. You’ll report to one of our engineering leads and work in a small pod of about 4–5 engineers. You’ll own clearly-scoped projects from start to rollout, get deep in the part of the product your pod owns, and build your system and product intuition with mentorship from senior engineers through pairing and code review. It’s a good fit for someone 1–3 years into their career. What you’ll do as a Software Engineer at Rundoo ️Ship features end-to-end, from the proto and backend logic to the web and mobile UIOwn small, clearly-scoped projects (typically 1–3 weeks) with limited direction, from scoping through rolloutGo deep in your pod’s part of the product so you can fix arbitrary bugs and add new features with confidenceAlign with PM and tech lead on what you’re building and why, and write tickets clear enough for another engineer to pick upTalk to clients directly, calling stores to research how they work and to get their feedback on what you’ve shippedWrite design docs for your features and reason about how your work interacts with adjacent systemsReview teammates’ code and act on the feedback you get, keeping our codebase readable and maintainableSpot broken team processes and fix them, automating manual work where it speeds up deliveryRequirements ️1–3 years of professional software engineering experienceSolid command of computer-science fundamentals and fluency in at least one production languageComfort shipping features end-to-end and debugging across the stackBased in (or willing to relocate to) the Bay Area and able to work in person 4 days a week in our Redwood City officeBonus points Experience with Go, TypeScript/React, or React NativeExperience at an early-stage startup, or another fast-moving environmentFamiliarity with ERP, POS, payments, or other system-of-record softwareInterview Process Intro Call – Meet a recruiter to learn more about each other (20 mins, remote)Live coding screen with Andrew (45 mins, remote) Take Home Assignment Onsite – A mix of technical and culture interviews with the team (~4 hours, in person)Meet some of the team George- Studied computer science and math at Stanford; worked a couple internships at Meta + some startups in Denver; jaywalking ticket recipient Santi- Studied CE and played varsity soccer at Waterloo: internships at Replicant and other Canadian startupsVidya - Studied Computer Science at UC Berkeley; worked at Ironclad for 5 years as a Software Engineer and Engineering Manager; south Indian classical dancerUmer - CS at NUS; interned at Visa and a couple of startups in Singapore.
