This fully remote, contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for an accounts payable professional who enjoys owning vendor setup and maintaining clean, compliant vendor master data in a fast-paced environment. In this Accounts Payable Associate role, you'll serve as a key resource for vendor onboarding, validation and ongoing maintenance—supporting strong controls around sensitive banking and tax information. This Accounts Payable Associate position offers the chance to join a growing team and make a visible impact through process improvement and accurate vendor governance.ResponsibilitiesOwn the end-to-end vendor setup process, including creating, updating and maintaining vendor records in the accounts payable systemReview and validate vendor documentation (W-9s, tax forms, contracts, banking information and supporting records) to ensure accuracy and complianceMaintain vendor master data (payment terms, tax IDs, addresses, remittance details and banking information) to ensure data integrityPartner with vendors and internal teams to resolve setup issues, discrepancies and vendor account inquiriesVerify vendor banking changes and help maintain strong internal controls for sensitive payment informationSupport 1099 reporting by ensuring vendor tax classifications and documentation are accurate and up to dateAssist with vendor statement reconciliations, invoice inquiries and past-due notice investigations as neededSupport month-end and year-end close activities related to vendor maintenance and accounts payable operationsParticipate in process improvement initiatives and special projects to strengthen AP controls and vendor master governanceQualifications3+ years of accounts payable experience, with a strong emphasis on vendor setup, vendor maintenance and/or vendor master data managementThorough understanding of vendor onboarding processes, vendor compliance requirements and 1099 reportingExperience reviewing W-9s, tax documentation, banking information and vendor recordsStrong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and internal control complianceStrong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environmentExperience handling confidential information with discretion; ability to identify issues and escalate risks appropriatelyKnowledge of escheatment processes preferredKey DetailsEmployment Type: Contract-to-HireCompensation: $30 – $40 per hourLocation: Deerfield, ILWork Model: Fully RemoteReady to take the next step in your career?
