Our client is currently seeking a HIM Specialist


Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Required Certification: RHIA or RHIT

• Review and verify the authenticity and completeness of authorizations prior to releasing medical information.
• Process requests for medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and release-of-information procedures.
• Respond professionally and courteously to incoming calls from internal and external customers.
• Retrieve, sort, date-stamp, and prepare incoming mail and fax requests for processing.
• Log all release-of-information requests into the ROI tracking system, documenting requestors, addresses, dates sent, and records released.
• Prepare and securely transmit medical records through electronic and paper formats, including password protection of electronic media.
• Certify medical records when requested and authorized.
• Process walk-in patient requests, verify identity, collect payments, and maintain accurate transaction records.
• Process incoming payments, including cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Validate the accuracy and completeness of medical records prior to final release.
• Escalate questionable or non-compliant release requests to the HIM Supervisor for review.
• Maintain inventory and order departmental office supplies as needed.
• Ensure all requests are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established turnaround times.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with all privacy and security regulations.
