Position Summary

Leashes of Valor is seeking a dependable and organized individual to transport service dogs in training between foster homes, training sessions, veterinary appointments, and approved training locations. This position is essential to supporting working foster families and ensuring dogs receive consistent daily training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely transport service dogs in training between foster homes and the Leashes of Valor training facility.

  • Coordinate daily pick-up and drop-off schedules with foster families.

  • Transport dogs to veterinary, grooming, and other scheduled appointments.

  • Assist trainers by transporting dogs to public access training locations such as stores, restaurants, parks, and community events.

  • Maintain a clean and organized transport vehicle, crates, leashes, and transportation equipment.

  • Keep accurate transportation logs and communicate any scheduling changes or concerns.

  • Report any health or behavioral concerns observed during transport to the training staff.

  • Assist with loading and unloading training equipment when needed.

  • Represent Leashes of Valor professionally when interacting with foster families, businesses, veterinarians, and the public.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Comfortable handling dogs of various breeds and sizes.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Must pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with dogs or animals is preferred but not required.

  • Experience driving a cargo van or similar vehicle is a plus.

Schedule

Typical schedule:

  • Morning transportation route

  • Afternoon transportation route

  • Occasional midday appointments or public access outings as needed

Hours will vary based on the number of dogs and foster locations.

Mission Impact

This position allows Leashes of Valor to partner with working foster families who otherwise could not participate in the program. By providing reliable transportation, the Transportation Coordinator directly increases the organization's capacity to train and place life-changing service dogs with veterans.
