Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, provides physical, mental health, dental and sex offender treatment services to individuals involved in the criminal justice systems in New Jersey. UCHC operates with a total budget of $150 million with approximately 1,000 staff. Posting Summary We are seeking a Part‑time UCHC Technician I for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center STU located in Avenel, NJ. The technician will serve as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the prison. Responsibilities Takes vital signs, height, and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR). Assists the physician or associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing inmates for examinations. Obtains specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood. Assists with cleaning, sterilization, and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintains or assists in maintaining supply stock in the Health Service Unit and in examination rooms, ordering supplies in a timely manner. Aggregates medication orders and forwards them to the pharmacy provider or local pharmacy. Qualifications Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification. At least two (2) years of progressively responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill, and abilities. CPR Certification. Valid driver’s license and ownership of a vehicle or alternative means of transportation to travel between sites. Preferred Qualifications No additional preferred qualifications are listed. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Must be physically able to lift and rotate patients who cannot ambulate, up to 50 pounds.
