Billing Support Specialist

$19 - $24 per hour

Salary Range: $19–24/hour with office benefit package (Parking/Remote Expenses) Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM Company: RADIAS Health is a non‑profit Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders services organization that customizes community‑based services through the integration of knowledge, compassion, and collaboration. The Billing Support Specialist role provides assistance to the Finance Department Billing Specialist. The position will provide professional, quality customer service when interacting with insurance companies and staff employed at the organization. The Billing Support Specialist will bill insurance companies and patients for all services provided at the organization. The position will pursue collection of all claims until payment is made by insurance companies and will perform other work associated with the billing process. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain an updated billing and benefit changes for all patients and third‑party insurance carriers. Prepare and process clean claims to various insurance companies for various patient insurances, including specific restrictions or groups. Assist with auditing, error correction, and preparation of behavioral health billing in RADIAS Health’s current electronic health record software. Process and reconcile payments and overpayments from various insurance companies. Report and maintain accurate documentation of company revenue for assigned programs. Review and follow up on denied claims, resubmitting claims to third‑party payers and advocating for payment. Prepare and request paperwork for prior authorizations for services provided. Prepare, review, and send patient billing statements. Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone and mailing out invoices. Maintain competencies in software and websites for the agency’s current electronic health record, state provider portals, and insurance provider portals. Consider patient’s financial status and establish budget payment plans, following and reporting status of delinquent accounts. Have working knowledge of RADIAS Health programs. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner. Participate actively in ongoing professional growth and development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and participate in appropriate supervision. Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars. Maintain a pattern of regular work hours to meet program needs as determined by the Program Manager. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2–3 years experience in accounting or insurance billing. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook and Excel. Preferred Qualifications Experience in health care or human services environment. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. 1–2 years of accounting software experience desired. Administrative support and/or office management experience.
