Summary Incentive (Sign‑on Bonus): $25,000 with a two‑year service period ($12,500 per year). This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student‑loan payment reimbursement program. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Doctor of Medicine or equivalent allopathic or osteopathic degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Residency training: physicians must have completed an ACGME or AOA‑accredited residency training program leading to eligibility for board certification, or satisfy one of the alternative pathways described. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred experience: Clinical leadership experience – 3+ years. Primary Care experience – 5+ years. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Acrobat, Excel, database searching, VA/Federal systems. Experience in women’s health and chronic pain management. Board certification. Physical requirements: Moderate lifting of 15–44 pounds, light carrying under 15 pounds. Use of fingers. Walking and standing for 2 hours each. Near vision correctable at 13–16″ to Jaeger 1–4; far vision correctable to 20/20 in one eye and to 20/40 in the other. Ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted). Mental and emotional stability required. Ability to work closely with others and independently. Responsibilities and Duties The Section Chief – Primary Care Service will work in a team setting with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, and support staff to accomplish patient care. Computer skills are essential as VALLHCS is fully computerized for note documentation, entering orders, and requesting consults. Primary Care: incumbent will provide patient care approximately 60–70% of the time as assigned. Administrative: incumbent will supervise and provide administrative support 60–80% of the time as assigned. Functions as a preceptor for students and residents in the clinic setting as assigned by VALLHCS. Serves as the Primary Care Liaison to the Designated Women’s Health Program. Reviews, interprets, and effectively uses performance reports, benchmark data, budget cost/expenditure documents, staffing, and other reports in decision‑making. Quality Improvement: directs the continuous measurement and improvement of quality, timeliness, and patient satisfaction. Plans, coordinates, and ensures high‑quality, timely, patient‑centered care through utilization of multiple quality‑measurement tools. Work schedule: 8 am to 4:30 pm – Monday to Friday.
