FT Library Assistant – Youth Services – Warren County Library – Blairstown FT Library Assistant – Youth Services at Warren County Library – Blairstown Position Title: Library Assistant Position Overview: The Warren County Library system is seeking applications for a full time Library Assistant. The focus for this position is youth services along with circulation duties. This is based out of the newly renovated Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch in beautiful Blairstown, NJ. The right candidate will be a creative, adaptable, and enthusiastic person who wants to work with the kids of Blairstown and surrounding townships. Key Responsibilities Under supervision of the CDH Branch Manager, the Library Assistant will plan two weekly storytimes. One for babies and toddlers; one for preschoolers. Plan other engaging events for children, like book clubs, holiday celebrations, craft nights, and more. A member of the Youth Services Committee, which plans system-wide reading challenges and strives to provide excellent and age-appropriate events for the youth of Warren County. Work at the circulation desk, which includes checking items in and out, answering questions about the library collections, and helping patrons as needed. Assist customers using public computers, printing, and digital services (Libby, Hoopla, and more) Shelve returned materials to the shelves Demonstrated ability to: Provide excellent customer service to all patrons, including children, teens, and families Engage warmly and patiently with people of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds Exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patrons and colleagues. Communicate ideas clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing. Utilize a broad range of computer skills Hours and Compensation This position is a 35-hour workweek and includes a regular schedule of one evening per week, one mid- shift per week, and one Saturday per month. Additional evening and weekend hours may be required based on operational needs, including special events and programs.
