Microbiology Lab Assistant
Labcorp
Labcorp seeks a Lab Assistant for its Overland Park, Kansas facility to receive, sort, and prepare clinical specimens for testing while maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The position operates Wednesday through Saturday, 6am–4:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and prepare clinical specimens for testing and analysis
- Scan and enter specimen and patient information into laboratory systems
- Monitor lab equipment functionality and perform routine maintenance
- Troubleshoot specimen-related issues and maintain adequate bench supplies
- Maintain clean, safe work environment and complete administrative records
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Comfortable handling biological specimens and accurately identifying them
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet turnaround times
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must pass standardized color blindness test
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
