Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown nursing to join our dynamic team. This position involves working night shifts, specifically a 3x12 hour schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Candidates will have the option to choose one holiday off from either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but not both.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to patients in PCU/Stepdown units.
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips, with a strong emphasis on cardiac telemetry and vasoactive drips as a hardstop requirement.
• Float between units as necessary, particularly to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors when overstaffed.
• Assist in emergency situations and respond to patient needs effectively.

Job Requirements

• Experience: Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in a relevant nursing role.
• Patient Ratios: Expected ratios are 1:3-4.
• Charting System: Experience with Epic is required.
• Certifications: Must hold valid ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification is also preferred.
• Weekend Work: This position requires working every other weekend.
• Floating Policy: Travelers may be expected to float to nearby facilities if necessary.

Unit and Facility Information

• Type of Facility: Short Term Acute Care / Level II Trauma Center / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, located in a city with a high standard of care.
• Total Staffed Beds: 629
• Patient Age Groups: Adults and Geriatrics
• Daily Census: Engaging with a diverse patient population that includes cases such as CHF, Afib, RVR, and post-cardiac procedures.
• Interdisciplinary Support: Access to IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support staff.

Special Equipment and Procedures

• Cardiac monitoring equipment, including traditional cardiac drips.
• Management of various medical procedures related to cardiac care.
• Use of specialized equipment such as BiPAP/CPAP, IV management tools, and telemetry systems.
