Come grow with us!The Software Systems Engineer supports the planning, development, integration, and verification of complex software-intensive systems within a defense acquisition environment. This role interfaces with government PMOs, contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure software solutions meet performance, safety, and airworthiness requirements.As a Software Systems Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:Support planning, development, integration, and sustainment of complex software systemsCollaborate with government PMOs, defense contractors, and internal engineering teamsReview software requirements, architectures, and technical artifacts for compliance and traceabilitySupport software verification, validation, and airworthiness activitiesReview integration and test plans, procedures, and resultsParticipate in Agile development activities and support DevSecOps practicesContribute to system-level risk identification and mitigationQualificationsU.S. CitizenshipMaster's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, 10+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or a related field ORBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, 12+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or a related fieldActive secret clearanceExperience supporting software systems in a defense acquisition environmentKnowledge of software V&V, requirements traceability, and verification processesFamiliarity with software safety and airworthiness standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254)Experience supporting software integration and test in complex systemsWorking knowledge of Agile software development methodologiesPreferred QualificationsDirect experience with PEO Aviation or related military aviation acquisition programsKnowledge of multi-core processing considerations and standards (e.g., DO-297, Integrated Modular Avionics)Experience working within or leading Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)Experience overseeing contractor and supplier performance for software-intensive systemsFamiliarity with DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipelinesSchedule: M-F; 8-5 Work Location: Huntsville, AL Travel: 0-20%Relocation Assistance Available: No Position Contingent Upon Award of Contract: NoBenefits: Torch Technologies is proud to offer a stable and professional work environment, a competitive salary, and an excellent, comprehensive benefit package including: ESOP participation, 401(k) match and safe-harbor contribution, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, Health Saving Accounts and Health Reimbursement Accounts, EAP, education assistance, paid time off, and holidays.Applying to Torch Technologies: Only those candidates invited for an interview will be contacted.
