About the Position

Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; 3+ years for first-time travelers License: Registered Nurse License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips; Epic experience preferred; prior travel experience preferred Description: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience. If a first-time traveler, 3 or more years of ICU experience is required. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2, depending on patient acuity. For high acuity patients, the ratio may flex to 1:3. Candidates should have experience with titrating critical drips, including pressors, sedation, and insulin. Designated Charge Nurses do not take patient assignments unless necessary. Respiratory Therapy is available, but RNs are expected to assist with respiratory needs. There are no monitor techs; RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Scheduling is handled by leadership, with flexibility expected from travelers. Weekend requirements include 6-9 shifts within a 6-week schedule. Candidates may be asked to float to other acuity levels, including PCU/Stepdown. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the assignment.
