Assistant Nurse Manager

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager with the operation of their designated units. Provides coverage for other ANMs as needed. The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Functions as a proficient clinician and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or overseeing direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Drafting schedules and leave for final approval by the NM.
• Providing input into the performance of employees with the final evaluation completed by the NM.
• Assisting with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment.
• Applying clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes; providing feedback to the NM who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of practice.
• Overseeing work assignments and providing reports of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed to provide the NM with the information necessary to make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary actions.
• Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes.
• Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, improving outcomes.
• Leads the implementation of high reliability principles and I CARE values to increase consistency of care delivered and improve patient outcomes.
• Leads teams, contributes to team conferences, and actively collaborates in all phases of patient care planning. Successfully integrates objectives, opportunities, and resources.
• Considers alternative courses of action. Respects the opinions, abilities, and contributions of others. Encourages individual growth and development.
• Effectively sets group goals and keeps self and team informed of the latest trends and developments. Inspires the cooperation and confidence of others. Demonstrates a high level of expertise.
• Leads education initiatives to expand knowledge.
• Participates in the advancement of the profession through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching.
• Assesses the immediate practice setting to identify efficient, cost-effective care delivery.
• Leads initiatives for expanding best techniques to identify and apply patient preferences to shared care delivery decisions.

Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
