STAFF SERVICES MANAGEMENT AUDITOR

Internal Auditor – Staff Services Management Auditor (SSMA) Position Description: The Staff Services Management Auditor works under the direction of the Staff Management Auditor and coordinates audits and open audit recommendations conducted by external audit agencies. SSMA is responsible for performing less complex auditor duties, including financial, compliance, and performance audits in compliance with The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards. Responsibilities Coordinate audits and audit recommendations from external auditors. Perform financial, compliance, and performance audits in compliance with IIA standards. Prepare detailed audit reports, analyze complex factual scenarios, and make objective determinations. Communicate audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations in written and verbal formats. Support the Department’s governance processes, risk management, and internal controls through audits. Travel & Working Conditions Up to 10% travel throughout California; overnight business may require transporting up to 25 lb of equipment such as computers, working papers, etc. Qualifications Experience in financial, compliance, or performance auditing performed with IIA standards. Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear audit reports and presentations. Ability to adapt to changing requirements or priorities, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness. Knowledge of California and federal auditing authority and guidelines. Organizational and time‑management skills to support audit objectives. Desired Qualifications Outstanding organizational and planning skills related to audit management. Proficient in interpreting state and federal regulations and funding requirements. Experience with the IAU Corporate Audit Plan or similar initiatives. Ability to conduct audits that enhance performance and provide actionable recommendations.
