The Opportunity

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced General Manager to join our leadership team and help take Berns to the next level. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, knows how to develop and support a management team, and is energized by the opportunity to shape the future of a growing company.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, serving as the operational leader who bridges strategy and execution — ensuring our teams are aligned, our clients are well-served, and our standards are upheld across every department.

What You’ll Own

• Direct supervision and development of all department managers

• Day-to-day operational excellence: scheduling, crew readiness, quality control, and on-time delivery

• Financial performance: revenue targets, job budgets, labor efficiency, and cost management

• Team culture and engagement — fostering a positive, accountable, and values-driven environment

• Recruitment, selection, and onboarding of field operations personnel, in collaboration with the Office Manager

• Client escalation and relationship support for significant service concerns

• Process improvement and systems consistency across all departments

• Regular reporting to the CEO on team performance, operations, and financial health

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 5+ years of leadership experience in landscaping, grounds management, or a related field service industry

• Proven experience leading and developing a team of managers or supervisors

• Strong financial acumen: P&Ls, job costing, and labor cost management

• A track record of building accountability through clear expectations, consistent follow-through, and direct communication

• Experience with HR processes including performance management and team development

• Clear, professional communication skills across all levels — crews, clients, and leadership

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to be present across job sites

Preferred

• Experience with a landscaping or grounds management company with $8M+ in annual revenue

• Familiarity with job costing software, CRM platforms, or field service management tools

• Hands-on background in horticulture, irrigation, fertilization, or hardscape

• Experience managing seasonal workforce and multi-department operations

• Spanish language proficiency a plus
