Lifeguards contracted through Edustaff Interested Individuals should apply to Edustaff.org Hours: Up to 25 hours per week Qualifications:
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required stand, talk or hear and sometimes traverse and sit. In case of emergency must be able to traverse about school campus and lead students to safety.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books and AV/laptop carts. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

The noise level in the work environment is frequently moderate to loud. The employee must work with the public and other staff, continuously meeting multiple demands from several people. - Valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding / CPR/ First Aid / AED.
- Successful completion of written and water test.
- Skill in oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Familiar with computer program on-line Active Server (will train)
- Be prepared and proficient in all Emergency Action Plans (community and school use)
- Must be responsible, dependable and enjoy working with people of all ages.
- Must be available to perform opening/closing duties.
- 18 years and older must obtain criminal background check as required by the State of Michigan.
- Regular and reliable in person attendance is an essential job function
- Ensure safety of all swimmers by taking precautionary measures and enforcing rules BEFORE an accident happens
- Wear On-Guard uniform and carry provided equipment at all times
- Ability to work with children
- Perform rescues and basic first aid when necessary
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- High energy
- Strong work ethic
