Project Supervisor

SUMMARY
The Working Project Superintendent is a hands‑on field leader responsible for supervising daily jobsite operations while also performing skilled work as needed. This position coordinates company crews, subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, safety requirements, schedules, quality control, and field documentation to ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with plans, specifications, applicable codes, OSHA requirements, and company standards.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the company’s on-site field leader and working supervisor for assigned projects.
- Perform skilled field work when needed while directing crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and other jobsite personnel.
- Read, understand, and communicate project plans, specifications, shop drawings, erection drawings, submittals, schedules, and scope requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily field operations, including manpower, equipment, material deliveries, site logistics, work sequencing, and jobsite access.
- Maintain project schedule progress, identify delays or conflicts early, and communicate corrective-action recommendations to the Construction Manager or Project Manager.
- Promote, enforce, and document jobsite safety practices, including OSHA compliance, company safety policies, fall protection, PPE, equipment safety, hazard correction, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.
- Maintain quality control by inspecting work in progress, confirming compliance with contract documents, and correcting deficiencies before work is covered or completed.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, punch‑list items, closeout activities, and owner or design‑team field reviews as required.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, jobsite photos, time records, material tickets, safety records, delivery logs, and other required field documentation.
- Communicate professionally with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, supervisors, and employees.
- Identify field conflicts, design questions, missing information, and potential change conditions; promptly notify management and assist with RFIs, solutions, and documentation.
- Protect company interests by avoiding unauthorized commitments, directing questions about contract changes to management, and maintaining complete records of jobsite conditions.
- Maintain an organized, secure, and clean jobsite; ensure good housekeeping practices are observed and maintained.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of carpentry, structural steel, pre‑engineered metal building systems, foundations, building layout, and general commercial construction practices.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete duties as directed by the Construction Manager, Project Manager, President, or other authorized company representative. Assist with estimating input, constructability review, sequencing, material takeoffs, and field planning when requested. Mentor, train, and support field employees in safe work practices, production standards, quality expectations, and company procedures. Support project closeout, warranty work, owner turnover, and follow‑up work as assigned. Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and jobsite materials in good working condition and report maintenance or replacement needs.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Leadership: Ability to lead by example as a working supervisor, direct field crews, coordinate subcontractors, and maintain accountability on the jobsite. Organization: Utilizes strong organizational skills to manage schedules, manpower, materials, equipment, documentation, inspections, and jobsite logistics. Communication: Displays strong written and oral communication skills, employs effective listening skills, and provides clear direction to field personnel and subcontractors. Problem Solving: Analyzes field problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on safety, schedule, quality, cost, contract requirements, and project risk. Interpersonal Skills: Maintains a tactful and mature demeanor with the ability to work well with owners, design professionals, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, supervisors, and employees. Reading Comprehension: Understands written sentences, plans, specifications, submittals, safety requirements, codes, and other work‑related documents. Active Listening: Gives full attention to instructions, owner concerns, employee questions, and project‑team communication; asks appropriate questions and confirms understanding. Construction Knowledge: Working knowledge of commercial construction, carpentry, structural steel, pre‑engineered metal building erection, foundations, building layout, material handling, and jobsite sequencing. Safety and Legal Compliance: Knowledge of OSHA construction requirements, company safety policies, hazard recognition, fall protection, PPE, equipment safety, incident reporting, anti‑harassment expectations, equal‑employment practices, and proper documentation of jobsite conditions. Technology: Ability to use a smartphone, email, photos, basic Microsoft Office programs, and company‑required jobsite software or reporting tools. Physical: Strength: Ability to frequently lift and carry 26–50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. with proper assistance or equipment when required. Stamina: Capacity to stand, walk, climb, and work outdoors for most of the workday in active construction conditions. Mobility: Frequent requirement for bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders or lifts, accessing uneven surfaces, and stretching. Dexterity: High levels of gross manipulation for tools and equipment and fine manipulation for small parts, fasteners, layout tools, and documentation. Vision & Hearing: Must be able to see details up close and at a distance and hear alarms, equipment, traffic, and verbal instructions in an active jobsite environment.EDUCATION:
