Associate Counsel

Associate Counsel Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing private equity real estate investment firm with a national footprint is seeking a talented Associate Counsel to join its in-house legal team at its Albany, NY area headquarters. The firm specializes in self-storage and other alternative real estate asset classes, with a multi-billion-dollar portfolio spanning the United States, Canada, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated environmental attorney to play a key role in the acquisition, financing, and operation of commercial real estate while working alongside a highly collaborative and respected leadership team. Responsibilities of the Associate Counsel will include: Advise on federal, state, and local environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Oversee environmental due diligence for real estate acquisitions and financings. Review and interpret environmental reports (e.g., Phase I/II ESAs), property condition reports, title, and survey documents. Work with outside counsel and consultants to structure, negotiate, and close commercial real estate transactions. Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to environmental law. Prepare, draft, and review contracts, permits, regulatory filings, and other legal documents. Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable guidance on environmental and compliance matters. Support general corporate and operational legal needs, including policies, agreements, and litigation matters as assigned.
