Are you ready to take the lead in a fast-paced food service environment

Tiggs Canteen Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Temporary Full-Time Lead Cook to join our team at the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso Indiana .

This position is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work has strong leadership skills and is comfortable working in a structured correctional environment.

What Youll Do

As a Kitchen Manager you will help oversee daily kitchen operations while working directly with inmates assigned to the food service area. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading directing and assisting inmates within the kitchen
  • Leading and instructing kitchen staff and inmates during meal preparation
  • Assisting with food preparation baking cooking and clean-up
  • Following company recipes and established food service procedures
  • Maintaining a safe organized and productive kitchen environment
  • Working effectively within a structured correctional setting
  • Performing physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds

What Were Looking For

Successful candidates should have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • The ability to work well in a structured correctional environment
  • The ability to read and follow company recipes
  • The ability to lead instruct and assist with kitchen and meal preparation duties
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • A dependable positive and professional attitude

Schedule & Requirements

  • Temporary Full-Time position
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays
  • Must be flexible to work varying days and hours
  • Typical shift times fall between 8:30 AM and 6:30 PM
  • Must receive clearance approval to enter the facility

Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus - but dont let that stop you from applying. We can train the right person!
