DIVISION: Affordable Housing HOURS: Full-Time JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt OFFERED SALARY RANGE: $21.65–$23.42 per hour. FULL SALARY RANGE: $21.65–$57.73 per hour. We are disclosing the full salary range for this position; however, the “offered at” wage range reflects the hiring range for this specific opening. The full salary range representing the broader compensation band for the position and progression within that range is based on employee longevity and continued service. REPORTS TO: Section 8 & TBRA Program Manager SUPERVISES: None Summary We’re pleased to announce an opportunity for the position of Eligibility Specialist within the Housing Department. Under the direct supervision of the Section 8 & TBRA Program Manager, the Eligibility Specialist performs a variety of essential day‑to‑day functions associated with the Housing Choice Voucher (Section8) and/or TBRA Program; interviews applicants and participants; conducts briefings and orientations; executes housing assistance payment contracts and other related documents; assures accurate and timely housing assistant payments; and maintains a caseload for rental subsidy determinations. Remain current on applicable rules and regulations, other agencies, community resources, service organizations, and programs available in the area; make appropriate referrals. Maintain accurate records that provide for the proper evaluation and documentation of assigned services; compile program statistics. Maintain accurate and organized client files, manage a caseload, and ensure compliance with program regulations. Interview housing applicants and verify all documentation provided for eligibility criteria. Make the final determination as to eligibility for rental assistance programs in accordance with applicable established program regulations and policies. Send applicant correspondence including briefing information, denial letter(s), expired vouchers, and properly remove applicants from the waiting list in accordance with HUD regulation and policy. Required Education and Experience Associates degree; two years administrative experience; three years of experience in a housing or social service agency; and two years computer data entry experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. Required Certification and Licenses Access to reliable transportation. Valid driver’s license in state of residence. Auto insurance in the amount required by the State of Washington. Acceptable completion of a criminal history background check. Section8 Eligibility Standards Certified (as needed). Section8 Rent Calculation Certified (as needed).
