Maintenance Supervisor - Line Maintenance, Second Shift

Job Description

Role Overview Maintenance Supervisor (Second Shift) in the Maintenance department (Line Maintenance), reporting to the Project Manager. The role assigns and coordinates work with the Leads and assumes responsibility for all maintenance functions on the shift. It also assists Maintenance Control and the Station / Base Maintenance Manager in coordinating rescue missions, and oversees the maintenance performed by Lead Maintenance Technicians, Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Mechanics and Apprentices, in accordance with all company policies and procedures and all federal aviation regulations. Key Responsibilities Supervise the maintenance and alteration of all company aircraft on the shift, in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, company manuals and approved procedures Supervise the Team Leads and Technicians and monitor daily work functions Identify barriers to operating efficiently day to day, resolve those within the role's capability and escalate the rest to management Plan, assign and routinely follow up on work assignments, setting reasonable but challenging expectations Manage the shift in the safest and most effective manner possible Coordinate work and jobs in progress with oncoming Technicians during shift change to ensure an efficient flow of work Train employees in the appropriate methods of operating efficiently according to the manufacturer's maintenance manuals and Kalitta Air, LLC policies and procedures Manage all teams, including performance management, coaching and development, and proactively build co-worker skill sets to increase bench strength and allow for succession planning Keep Maintenance Control, the Operations Control Center (OCC) and the Line Maintenance Manager advised of problems that could cause work delays, and report key performance indicators for the area of responsibility Understand and support company and departmental goals and objectives and ensure all personnel assigned to the shift do the same at line level Monitor the proper completion of aircraft records, for example logbook pages, work cards, non-routines and engineering documents (EOs, EAs and similar), and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all assigned work documents and records Maintain familiarity with the training requirements defined in the AMTM and ensure training is current before performing the functions and tasks of the position Always follow approved published procedures and never deviate from them unless a deviation is properly authorised Perform other duties as assigned by the Station Maintenance / Project Manager Licences & Qualifications Licence: FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe, Powerplant or both ratings (may be reviewed based on location and position); evidence must be provided on hire and/or on request Must obtain Engine Run / Taxi qualification when requested by management, if applicable to the location Must be able to pass a 10-year background check and any location-specific requirements Must be able to obtain an airport SIDA badge and a United States Customs seal if required Experience Two (2) years of experience supervising or performing maintenance on Boeing 747-400, 777F / 777-300 or similar aircraft is recommended but not required, covering maintenance checks, engine changes, gear changes, structural repairs, flight control rigging and component maintenance - or successful completion of an accredited A&P mechanic training course Requirements Able to read, write, speak and understand English; able to write routine reports and correspondence, and to give and receive verbal and written direction to team members Must demonstrate behaviour reflecting the company core values of Safety, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, Value and Passion when communicating with personnel and acting on behalf of the company Additional Information Physical demands: The position requires extremely strenuous physical work, occasionally involving objects in excess of 100 lbs and frequently in excess of 50 lbs. Requirements
