PATIENT ACCESS SCHEDULER

Job Title

Responsible for collecting data required for confirming scheduled appointments for outpatient hospital services directly from the patients, as well as referring physician offices. Also responsible for collecting required patient demographic and financial information and creating a complete registered account for scheduled visits. Other duties involve performing medical necessity checks, verifying insurance coverage, collecting insurance copays, and sometimes verifying that prior approval has been obtained. This position is the liaison between the order physician's office and other departments within Iredell Health System.

Requirements

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months or more of on-the-job experience in a like or similar position required.
• Good communication skills preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of a calculator.
• Computer experience required.
• Must be able to work weekends.
• Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
