Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer The Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer will establish reliability engineering principles and best work practices, and lead major overhauls and repairs to critical fixed equipment. Targeted Outcomes Perform reliability engineering evaluations and analyses related to equipment strategies, including Preventive/Predictive tasks, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Remaining Useful Life, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA). Work with production to identify key areas of equipment performance requests and improvement opportunities based on materials of construction evaluations. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot equipment problems and conduct root cause failure analysis investigations on failed equipment, develop action plans to eliminate repeat failures, and implement corrective actions. Work with production to identify key areas for reliability improvements, develop action plans, and work to implement them. Ensure that all inspection plans/strategies are in place and consistently monitor the plans to optimize them. Provide technical support to Mechanical Integrity Specialists and Inspectors on mechanical repairs, troubleshooting problems, and equipment installation issues. Provide technical support to the Project Engineering Department on the selection of mechanical equipment based on reliability improvements and industry best practices, supporting all phases of projects (Design, Fabrication, Installation, Testing, and Start‑up). Conduct and review vessel and piping design calculations, including re‑rating of equipment. Demonstrate knowledge of and stay abreast of developments and advancements in engineering and inspection equipment and techniques. Utilize SAP as an effective maintenance management tool for analyzing equipment information and history. Required Experience Minimum of five (5) years as a Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience maintaining the Mechanical Integrity program using MI Software. Applied knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices. Understanding of predictive technologies for fixed equipment evaluations. Demonstrated use of SAP or other CMMS for pulling equipment information and history. Required Skills Computer Systems: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio), ERP (SAP), Reliability Software (Wiebul Analysis, RCM, Mechanical Integrity Software). Critical thinking: use logic, reasoning, and calculations to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to solve equipment problems. ASME BP&V Code Knowledge: ASME B31.3 & API Codes for Tanks, Vessels, Exchangers & piping. API 510, 570, 571, 579, 580, 653 (certifications are an added advantage). RBI and RCFA Methodologies to improve risk management and identify causal factors for component, equipment or system failures. Corrosion Protection skills to control corrosion of metal surfaces through materials selection and Cathodic Protection. Communication skills: ability to listen, understand information and ideas, and express thoughts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
