This is more than a traditional Controller role—it's a unique opportunity to build the financial foundation for one of North America's largest battery separator manufacturing facilities. If you're energized by creating processes from the ground up, partnering with manufacturing leaders, and building a high-performing finance organization during a major facility startup, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact. As the Financial Controller, you'll serve as the senior finance leader for our newest manufacturing operation, partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, Project Management, and Corporate Finance to establish scalable financial processes that will support the facility for years to come. You'll help transform a manufacturing startup into a world-class operation while building and developing the accounting team that will support future growth.As the Financial Controller, you'll provide both strategic financial leadership and hands-on operational support during plant commissioning, startup, and ongoing manufacturing operations.In this role, you will:Build and lead the accounting and finance organization as the facility growsRecruit, develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting teamEstablish scalable accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processesDesign and implement month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesDevelop KPIs, dashboards, and operational reporting that provide meaningful business insights to plant leadershipPartner with Corporate Accounting to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controlsLead all manufacturing accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory valuation, labor and overhead absorption, and manufacturing cost analysisDevelop and maintain product costing methodologies while ensuring accurate cost allocation and financial reportingAnalyze manufacturing variances, inventory performance, labor efficiency, material usage, and operational trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and profitability improvementLead budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning activitiesPerform customer profitability, pricing, gross margin, and price-volume-mix analysesSupport capital investment decisions and long-range operational planningDevelop inventory accounting processes, cost center structures, and physical inventory programsEstablish financial processes supporting construction-in-progress (CIP), capital projects, and production reportingLead ERP implementation, financial configuration, testing, and process optimizationBuild internal control documentation and standardized financial workflowsSupport factory commissioning, operational readiness, and production startup activitiesPartner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Human Resources, and executive leadership to drive business performanceLead continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, operational excellence, and financial process optimizationSupport tax incentive programs, audits, compliance activities, and manufacturing finance initiativesWe're seeking a collaborative finance leader who enjoys building organizations—not simply maintaining existing ones. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in startup environments, enjoys solving complex business challenges, and wants to help shape the future of a rapidly growing manufacturing operation.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fieldSeven (7) or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturingStrong background in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, standard costing, inventory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisExperience leading month-end close and financial reporting processesDemonstrated success partnering with manufacturing and operational leadershipExperience developing financial models and providing strategic business analysisStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written, verbal, and presentation skillsProven ability to lead teams and build strong cross-functional relationshipsPreferred Qualifications:Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platformsExperience leading ERP implementations or manufacturing finance transformation initiativesExperience supporting multiple operating entities and intercompany accountingPublic accounting experienceExperience supporting manufacturing startups, greenfield facilities, plant expansions, or large capital projectsExperience developing finance organizations, internal controls, and scalable accounting processes from the ground upThis isn't simply an opportunity to manage an existing accounting department.
