About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: Required License: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license in a recognized NCSBN Compact State. Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Must-Have: Cardiac/Open Heart/Vascular/Endovascular experience. Description: Provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. Apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Conduct patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities through systematic collection and review of patient-specific data and communicate assessments appropriately. Plan and prioritize care based on assessments, evaluate patient progress, and revise care to attain expected outcomes. Include patients and families in planning care and evaluating programs and outcomes. Demonstrate clinical competencies in the specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards. Assess patient and family learning needs, plan and provide education, involving other disciplines as needed, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes. Identify and respond appropriately to ethical issues in patient care. Provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Serve as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care. Initiate collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care. Act as a patient advocate. Provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Identify resources to meet unique patient needs. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. Requirements include the ability to scrub and circulate. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to provide and evaluate patient care. Familiarity with organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Understanding of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skills in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public. Experience in lifting/moving patients and frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Ability to maintain corrected hearing and vision within normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and common healthcare conditions. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Moderate noise level in the work area. Must be able to work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends or holidays based on departmental needs.
