Military Pay Technician

Responsibilities Resolve pay and allowance problems, including correcting pay accounts, handling retroactive claims, performing extensive research and manual computations, and reconciling taxes and allotments. Review pay accounts and service records to address issues related to enlistment extension, reenlistment eligibility, and bonuses. Verify eligibility and compute pay and allowance cases using applicable rules and regulations for each pay entitlement. Manage, resolve, and process a wide range of debt collection cases requiring comprehensive research, review, and application of prior‑year laws, regulations, GAO decisions, and other procedures. Audit pay accounts to resolve issues spanning multiple months or several years of pay history. Location Indianapolis, IN; Rome, NY; Cleveland, OH Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade (GS‑05 for GS‑06, GS‑04 for GS‑05) is required. Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the above duties. For GS‑05: Performing duties that support processing of financial/accounting transactions, reviewing system information for accuracy, inputting data into automated systems, and correcting invalid transactions. For GS‑06: Processing a variety of non‑routine payroll actions such as establishing, adjusting, and closing payroll accounts; or preparing and balancing payroll reports.
