Job Description The Rapid Response Nurse is a proficient and experienced clinician who is primarily responsible for managing emergent clinical deterioration of non‑ICU patients. The role requires rapidly preventing and treating patients with sepsis, CVA, respiratory distress, acute coronary syndrome, and other comorbidities. You will recognize, assess, coordinate, and interpret clinical surveillance data, re‑evaluate nursing care plans, and communicate those plans to the assigned team and bedside clinical team. This position provides crisis intervention and serves as a lead resource for Rapid Response, Code Blue, Code Stroke, and Code Yellow. You will also be a resource for staff on patient‑care issues and provide consultative assessments to facilitate higher‑level healthcare needs at Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center. Responsibilities Managing rapid prevention and treatment of patients with sepsis, CVA, respiratory distress, acute coronary syndrome, and other comorbidities. Recognizing, assessing, coordinating, interpreting clinical surveillance data, re‑evaluating nursing care plans, and communicating those plans to the assigned team. Possessing in‑depth knowledge of nursing care for unit patient populations, including patients and families, with consideration for diverse cultural backgrounds. Performing crisis intervention and serving as a lead resource when responding to Rapid Response, Code Blue, Code Stroke, and Code Yellow. Being regarded as a resource for staff on patient‑care issues. Providing consultative assessments to facilitate patients with higher‑level healthcare needs into Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center. Qualifications Educational Requirements Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or higher preferred. License/Certification/Registration Requirements Current California State RN License required. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) certification required. ANCC Specialty Certification required. Complete Cedars‑Sinai Taking Charge Workshop within 6 months required. Experience Minimum 3 years recent acute ICU RN experience required; 5 years preferred. Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice. For internal RNs: be CNIII for at least one year of experience at Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center required.
